UAE Overtime Calculator
Updated June 2026 · Based on UAE Labour Law
Work out overtime pay at 125% (normal) and 150% (night or rest day) under UAE Labour Law.
Quick answer
UAE overtime pay is calculated on your basic hourly wage under UAE Labour Law. Normal overtime is paid at 125% of the hourly rate, while overtime worked between 10pm and 4am, or on a rest day, is paid at 150%. Your basic hourly wage is your basic monthly salary divided by 30 days and then by your daily working hours.
| When overtime is worked | Pay rate |
|---|---|
| Normal hours | 125% of basic hourly wage |
| Between 10pm and 4am | 150% of basic hourly wage |
| On a rest day | 150% (plus a day off in lieu) |
| Hourly wage basis | Basic salary ÷ 30 ÷ daily hours |
How is UAE overtime calculated?
Under UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), overtime is paid on top of the normal hourly wage:
- 125% (hourly wage + 25%) for ordinary daytime overtime.
- 150% (hourly wage + 50%) for overtime between 10pm–4am or on a rest day.
- Hourly wage = basic salary ÷ 30 days ÷ daily working hours.
Example
Basic salary AED 8,000, 8-hour day → hourly wage = 8,000 ÷ 30 ÷ 8 = AED 33.33. Ten hours of overtime at 125% = 10 × 33.33 × 1.25 = AED 416.67.
Limits
Overtime should not exceed 2 hours per day unless necessary to prevent serious loss or accident, and rest-day work entitles the employee to a substitute rest day.
